Barrington Community Theater Shows Night!

$5.00

The Barrington Community Theater will finish up its Fall Session with a festival of one-acts this upcoming Friday November 16th and Saturday November 17th.  Actors from ages 8 to 18 have been working together on 6 fantastic shows.  Performances will be held at the Barrington Public Library auditorium, and shows start at 7:00 p.m. each night.  Come out to support these young actors this weekend!

The Barrington Community Theater, or BCT, is the Town-of-Barrington theater program which is held at the Barrington Middle School from 6:00-8:00 on Mondays and Wednesdays.  Here young actors are immersed in theater as they work together to put these shows up in only 10 weeks.

BCT is a program driven to help our young actors grow through plenty of stage time and acting workshops based off college level theater courses. Our staff carefully tailors these classes to work with the actors’ abilities to allow each actor to grow at their own pace in a supportive and accepting environment. We feel it is important that each actor has the opportunity to have both leading and supporting roles, as both will be important in an actors life. Each play rehearses only one hour a week and most students are in two shows, making it a very small footprint on everyone's busy schedules.

Although our Fall Session is coming to an end, the Barrington Community Theater's Winter session will begin on January 7th 2013!  The Winter session will include 8 more one-act plays, more theater workshops focused on helping our actors learn and grow.

NEW! BCT will also be offering a circus and performance skills workshop every week. Students can come and learn Juggling, Hula Hoop tricks, Poi Spinning, Yo-yo tricks, and other performance skills.  These skills can help to increase coordination and boost self esteem.

Actors must pre-register at the Town Manager's office at the Barrington Town Hall.  Contact Maurice Reid Eighme at Reid.CommunityTheater@yahoo.com with any further questions about the program.

Shows will be performed at the Barrington Library auditorium on Friday and Saturday night.  Doors open at 6:30 and shows begin at 7:00. Shows listed in order

The library is recognized as one of the finest in Rhode Island with a mission to provide free, diverse and easily accessible materials, services and programs that educate, inform, enrich and entertain Barrington residents, according to Director Debbie Barchi. It is a member of the Ocean State Lending consortium of libraries, which share an online catalog. It offers databases that can be accessed online at the library or from a home or business. The library strives to serve all age groups and their special needs. One of its most popular adult programs is a film series in an auditorium that boasts state-of-the-art visual equipment, a wide screen and padded stadium seating. Meeting space is available for a small fee. The library offers copy machines and homedelivery of materials. Hundreds of story hours for children from babies to pre-teens draw thousands of participants each year. The picturesque two-story library occupies most of the square footage of the retrofitted and refurbished former high school next to the Town Hall.
