As we come upon New Years Eve and thoughts of a fresh start and new beginings are the focus it's a perfect time to remember to lead our children by our example. If you have not been perfect, present your good points. If you hung with the "wrong crowd" don't "expect" your child to do the same. If you feared being "unpopular" and fell into "bad behaviors" know that your child does not need to suffer the same mistakes. Understand that you have gained knowledge and insight to benefit your child. Repeating the same action and expecting a different result has never proven effective. As you celebrate New Years remember New Years Eve does not equal drinking in excess. And as the new year moves forward, know that your child is always watching you, looking up to you, admiring your every move. Lead by example. Your actions speak louder than words. Do good things and expect the same of your children. Lets work toward a substance free 2013! Happy New Year!
