Cherylann Bertoncini provided this information and photos. Renowned Rhode Island author Ann Hood entranced students at Nayatt School during a visit to the Library Media Center on April 30. Ann began by telling students how she came to write The Treasure Chest series. As a child growing up in West Warwick, Ann was an avid reader and dreamed of traveling. Ann would daydream about meeting such historical figures as Clara Barton, Amelia Earhart, and Helen Keller and kept a list of people she’d like to meet. Knowing that she wanted to become a writer, she hoped to one day also write books about the childhoods of these individuals. As an adult author, Ann had set aside this goal until one day when she was having lunch with editor Francesco …

Bringing Theater Arts Alive for Kids

The Arts Alive! performance of'Bugsy Malone Jr.' that debuts next weekend is the eighth show in three years in Barrington for this one-of-a-kind theater company.
