Yacht Club Complies With Liquor Law
Information provided to the Barrington Town Council on Monday by the BAY Team about yacht club employees apparently was outdated.
The Barrington Yacht Club is in compliance with the town’s liquor-training requirements for servers, according to Bob Manchester, commodore of the club.
Manchester provided the following statement on Friday afternoon after he confirmed the club's compliance with Town Manager Peter DeAngelis Jr. earlier in the day:
“Statements were made at the November 5th Barrington Town Council meeting suggesting that a number of establishments, including the Barrington Yacht Club, were not in compliance with certain liquor training requirements. As it relates to the Yacht Club, the statement was not true.
“All current employees requiring training, whose names were provided to the Town Clerk’s office as required, had received such training as of Monday, November 5th. Apparently the BAY Team representative who reported to the council had an outdated employee list and, therefore, thought individuals no longer employed by the Club had not received training.
The Barrington Yacht Club takes its responsibility to comply with state regulations and local ordinances very seriously and supports the work the BAY Team is doing.”
