Woman Crawls Out of Overturned Car to Face DUI Charge
A Providence woman 27, reportedly flipped over her car on Valentine's Day in the traffic island on County at Rumstick roads in Barrington.
A 27-year-old Providence woman walked away from her overturned vehicle in Barrington last Thursday night, Valentine’s Day, with a drunk-driving charge.
Ariana G. Morookian, of 50 Qunicy St., was driving north on County Road about 11 pm when her vehicle crossed several lanes of traffic at the intersection with Rumstick Road and hit the island in front of the Center ACE Hardware store at Bosworth Street.
The car was found flipped over on its roof up against a lamppost in the traffic island by a witness, three police officers, and Barrington fire and rescue vehicles.
Morookian apparently crawled out of her Saturn Ion after it flipped over without serious injury. She reportedly showed several signs of driving drunk, including slurred speech and glassy eyes, and she allegedly failed a field sobriety test at the scene.
She told police officers that she was on her way home from a bar in Warren, according to the police report. But she does not remember the crash.
Morookian was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by Barrington EMTs, where she twice refused to take a Breathalyzer test. She was returned to the Barrington police station about 6 am to be arraigned on the DUI charge and for refusing to submit to a chemical test.
She was held in a jail cell at the police station until taken to District Court on Friday morning, Feb. 15. She was given a summons to return to court this Friday to face the charges.
