Woman, 29, Lost in Barrington, Faces DUI Charge

Barrington Police arrest a West Bridgewater, Mass., woman, for DUI; she thought she was in Wakefield.

A Massachusetts woman, 29, who thought she was in Wakefield, RI, early Sunday morning, Feb. 19, faces a drunk driving charge after Barrington police stopped her vehicle on County Road.

Nicole Pierce, of West Bridgewater, was traveling south near the Barrington Congregational Church at 4:09 am when a patrol officer clocked her on radar going 50 mph in a 35 mph zone. Her vehicle also was swerving from side to side in the travel lane, police said.

The vehicle was pulled over near the Town Hall. Pierce exhibited all the signs of someone who is drunk. She failed the field sobriety tests but refused to submit to a Breathalyzer test, police said.

The woman was obviously lost, police said. She told the patrol officer that she had just left a friend’s party in Wakefield.

Pierce was held in a jail cell until she was sober. She also exhibited some behavioral problems in the police station, police said. She was arraigned and released with a summons to appear in court to face the charges.

"She was our one drunk driver a weekend," said Det. Lt. Dino DeCrescenzo.
