Woman, 18, Faces Drug Charges
Young Barrington woman charged with driving in possession of controlled substance and marijuana possession after she was stopped for speeding.
A young Barrington woman, 18, faces two drug charges after she was stopped for speeding by Barrington police early Monday morning, Aug. 6.
Angela R. Neff, of 19 Woodhaven Road, was stopped by Barrington patrol officers at 1:53 am near Sullivan Terrace while traveling south on County Road at 50 mph in a 35 mph zone.
Patrol Officer Michael Gregorzek smelled the odor of marijuana in the vehicle, according to Police Chief John LaCross. This allowed him to search the vehicle, the driver and several passengers with Neff.
A small bag of marijuana was found in the car, LaCross said. Neff denied it was her stash, he said.
Neff was taken to the police station and locked in a cell. The passengers were released to their parents.
Neff was charged with driving in possession of a controlled substance and marijuana possession, first offense. She was arraigned and released with a District Court date.

It doesn't matter who it belonged to, she was driving (and speeding) with drugs in her car. Therefore, she is responsible for them.

Typical Barrington teen defending the problem. I hear kids getting applause from parents and teachers for driving their drunken underage friends home. If you allow people in your vehicle your as the driver are responsible to know what entered your car with them. If I were your parents I would not be allowing you to hang out with the crowd you seem to be with. You are a product of the 5 people you spend the most time with. Choose these people well.

"Typical Barrington teen"? That is rude. Miss. Hicks is simply stating what she feels is the most important fact of the matter. She is defending her peer's reputation, not the problem. Please watch what you say. Barrington teens have received too much undeserved criticism for the mistakes of only a handful of their peers and classmates over the years. Sorry Miss. Hicks isn't as insightful about this issue as you obviously are.

Sorry for the harsh lesson at so early an age. I am happy to know you weren't drinking as many do.
The world is unforgiving after high school. Not one of your so-called friends had the courage to say the "stash" was theirs and that you had no knowledge of it.
Instead they got it out of their possession and into your's quickly enough so that you were the person taken away.
The lesson: Choose friends who have enough character to take responsibility for their own actions.
