Last Monday, Sept. 17, Patch asked readers to suggest Barrington's most ignored stop signs. We received a handful of responses from concerned residents.
The intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Upland Way -- just west of Barrington High School -- was suggested by two Patch readers.
Stop signs at two intersections with the East Bay Bike Path -- Washington Road and North Lake Drive -- also were suggested by another reader. The fact that there have been no deaths there is a surprise to that reader.
The stop sign at the intersection of Roberta Drive and Grant Street "seems to be considered a suggestion, rather than a rule," another reader said.
Today, Patch would like readers to comment on intersections without stop signs that should have a stop sign.
Do you know a dangerous intersection where a stop sign is needed?

The Bike Path is wonderful and I use it. When I am on a bike or walking, I do not expect cars to stop for me. I have a stop sign, they do not. Drivers who stop at every bike path crosswalk are not only frustrating, but dangerous. When you stop for a bicycle , you are exposing that person to possible danger from the opposite lane, where the oncoming car is not expecting to stop. Perhaps we need some lights or stop signs to avoid an accident but it is also important to know that courtesy can be dangerous. When those intersections were Railroad Crossings , there was a bump and drivers were alert to the possibility that the lights would flash. Maybe we could use a few flashing lights or bumps .

Enuff with the bumps! We have too many unintentional ones already.

50 affordable homes being built on Sowams Road will certainly add to the need of a red light at Route 114 (County Road) and Sowams Road.
