'Waitress' Sweetens Screen; Zumba

Here are five things you should know about today in Barrington.

 

The Barrington library film series, Indy Flicks You Never Saw But Wished You Did (Or Just Want to See Again!), airs “Waitress,” an award-winning movie about a small-town waitress (Keri Russell) in a miserable marriage but blessed with the ability to transform her misery into delicious desserts. Then her life changes by an unplanned pregnancy and a doctor she meets. It airs at 7 pm in the theater-like auditorium.

Margie Reed hosts a story hour for children every Thursday at 10 am at Barrington Books in the Barrington Shopping Plaza.

Thursday night Zumba classes at  426 Fitness, 426 Metacom Ave, Warren, will benefit the Warren Animal Shelter, which cares for and houses Barrington strays and pets.  Donations are collected during the free classes that start at 7 pm.

The Barrington Preservation Society Museum, located on the lower level of the library building, is open Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 11 am to 3 pm and by appointment; see the new exhibit, "Celebrate," a look at how Barringtonians feted holidays and special occasions.

Check your blood pressure at the Barrington Senior Center starting at 10:30 am and then come back to play Bingo at 1 pm.
