View 'Last Waltz', Photography Exhibit

Barrington library continues its rock 'n roll film series in May with the documentary, "The Last Waltz'; East Bay Center opens a display of photography by its consumers.

 

A rock ‘n roll film series continues at the Barrington Public Library at 7 pm with “The Last Waltz,” considered one of the best rock documentaries of all time. It chronicles The Band’s final concert in 1976 with Bob Dylan, Ringo Starr, Neil Young, Muddy Waters, Joni Mitchell and other music legends performing with The Band. Music and film aficionado Scott Duhamel will discuss director Martin Scorsese after the movie.

A reception from 12 to 2 pm opens a display of photography done by consumers of the East Bay Center, 2 Old County Road, who are recovering from mental illness or addiction.

A community tennis program that runs every Thursday evening in May continues at 6 pm at the courts at Barrington High School. Tony Cunha, a local tennis professional, is teaching the course. You can still register through the Barrington Recreation Department at 247-1925. Cost is $50.

Get your blood pressure checked at 10:30 am or play Bingo at 1 pm at the Barrington Senior Center.

Barrington Books hosts a children's story hour each Thursday at 10:30 am for kids ages 2-5. Barrington children's book author Anika Denise leads the story hour in the Barrington Shopping Plaza store.
