Turn Your Clocks Ahead, DST Starting

Daylight Saving Time starts early Sunday morning; spring forward before you go to bed tonight.

Daylight Saving Time starts early tomorrow, March 10, at 2 am. Set your clocks ahead an hour before you turn in tonight.

Remember the old saying: spring forward and fall back.

What is Daylight Saving Time exactly?

It started decades ago to give farmers an extra hour each summer day to harvest crops. Now it’s done primarily to save energy. Most of us get longer days so we don’t waste daylight. (Arizona and Hawaii don’t change the clocks.)

The time change is actually simple if every clock you use is computerized, such as on your cell phone or laptop. The time jumps ahead on its own. You will have to change other clocks or watches by hand.

Starting DST in March and ending it in November began five years ago. More energy savings were expected with more daylight.
