Throngs Flock to Festival of Lights
The annual holiday festival concludes with the tree-lighting at Barrington Town Hall on Saturday, Dec. 1.
Throngs of Barringtonians flocked to government center Saturday afternoon, Dec. 1, for the annual Festival of Lights. The weather, sometimes damp, did not seem to spoil the festivities for anyone.
The annual event concluded with the lighting of the tree on the lawn of the Town Hall. Music and entertainment was provided by the choruses at Barrington High School and Barrington Middle School, Arts Alive! and Prestige Ballet.
A trolley toted people from business to business, many offering their own activities, betwen 1 and 5 pm. A train gaves rides around Town Hall. Food trucks served goodies. Friends of the Bay Spring Community Center sold luminaries and lit a few at the veterans memorial. Children made paper ornaments.
The event was sponsored by the Barrington Recreation and Leisure Services Department and the Barrington Business Association.
