Teens Can Ring In New Year at Bayside YMCA

The BAY Team hosts a New Year's Eve party for high school students at the Y starting at 8:30 pm.

 

Only one weekday is left in school vacation week. Here are a few final adventures you can share with your children, including a party at the YMCA for high school students, before you head out tonight to welcome in the new year.

Friday, Dec. 31

  • 10 am to noon – Enjoy nature crafts and stories at the Audubon Society of Rhode Island Environmental Education Center, 1401 Hope St., Bristol. Crafts are available anytime, one nature story will be at 11.30am. Free with center admission.
  • 10 am – Kids can participate in a nature walk to search for signs of winter animals and observe how nature has changed during winter at the Audubon Society of Rhode Island Environmental Education Center, 1401 Hope St., Bristol. Warm clothing and winter footwear will be necessary. Cost is $2 and registration is required. Visit www.asri.org or call 949-5454 x 3017 to register.
  • 8 pm to 12:30 am – Barrington high-schoolers are invited to ring in the New Year with their friends at the Bayside YMCA. The party is sponsored by the BAY Team, Barrington's alcohol- and drug-free community coalition. The swimming pool will be open and there will be video games and dodge ball to play, with plenty of food. The party is free. But you must register in advance. Call 246-1212.

    The Barrington Recreation Department has discount passes for Dudek's Bowling Alley, 417 Child St., Warren. You can get them on the Town of Barrington website at www.barrington.ri.gov.  

    The Barrington Public Library loans out passes providing free and discounted admission to various museums and zoos throughout Rhode Island and nearby areas. Check with the library to see what's available today.
