Looking to celebrate the start of 2013 with a plunge into the bay or the ocean?
Tiny Annawamscutt Beach in Barrington has hosted a "plunge" by the unofficial “Annawamscutt Seal Society” every year for more than 30 years. Expect scores if not hundreds of plungers and spectator to turn out again tomorrow at noon at the beach at the end of Annawamscutt Road.
But if you want to take your plunge at a different spot this year, here are a few more Polar (and Seal) Plunges happening Tuesday, Jan. 1:
The second annual Tiverton Yacht Club's Penguin Plunge — The plunge will take place at noon at Grinnell's Beach, Main Road and Lawton Avenue in Tiverton. The event is free and open to public. A $10 donation will be accepted to benefit the Tiverton Library.
34th Annual New Year's Day Polar Bear Plunge — The plunge will begin at noon at Easton's Beach. The plunge will benefit A Wish Come True Foundation.
Jamestown First Day Plunge — The first day plunge will take place at noon, but festivities will start at 10 am at the recreation center, 41 Conanicus Ave.
