Take a Walk to Opening of Park

The Barrington Land Conservation Trust will open the town's newest park -- Lombardi Park -- on Saturday afternoon with a ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony.

Take a walk on the East Bay Bike Path Saturday afternoon. Stop by the dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony for Barrington's newest park.

Lombardi Park will be opened officially by the Barrington Land Conservation Trust at 2 pm. It sits just north of South Lake Drive at Little Echo pond.

Land for the park was given to the Land Trust by Salvatore and Josephine Lombardi. The CVS Caremark Charitable Fund provided financial support.

“Walk west along the path until you reach the park entrance,” said Beth Rondeau, co-president of the Land Trust.

You can't miss the park. A marker on the bike path identifies Little Echo ice pond, part of the Lombardi land donation.

The wooden sign for Lombardi Park rests between a bike hoop and granite steps that lead to a perch complete with a stone bench that looks out over the former ice pond.

“Join us in celebration and thanks with hot apple cider,” Rondeau said.

The weather forecast looks good -- great for a walk on the bike path.
