Shelter Opens at Primrose Hill School

Barrington, which has no electrical power, opened the shelter as a 'warming center' only.

An emergency shelter has been opened at Primrose Hill School in Barrington, which had no electrical power anywhere in town after the Blizzard of '13 swept through the region.

"It's only a warming center," said Town Manager Peter DeAngelis Jr. "You'll have to bring your own food and bedding."

But the shelter has a generator and will provide heat.

The shelter was opened about mid-afternoon. It will remain open until it is not needed any longer.

Warming center only? I think it's time to invite the Red Cross in. The elderly are going to need some place warm to sleep.

Went out when the road ban was lifted. Middle Highway was down to one lane. Nayatt almost impassible even with a four wheel drive. Rumstick is a mess. County a bit of a nightmare without the traffic lights. Maple the best of them all and still just marginal. Best bet is to just stay off the roads.
