'Pot', Beer Party in Park Busted

Nine Barrington teens 'smoking pot and drinking beer' were busted last week in Haines Park; three charged with possession.

A Barrington patrol officer interrupted a “pot” and beer-drinking party last Thursday evening, Feb. 28, in Haines Memorial State Park.

Three Barrington juveniles – out of nine boys and girls at the "party" – now face charges of possession of alcohol and marijuana.

“Very loud noise” coming from the parking lot near the baseball field about 8:30 pm apparently tipped off the neighbors, according to the police report.

Patrol officer Christopher Aylward investigated and found two cars filled with the nine boys and girls – four in a Jeep and five in a Volvo.

“They were basically smoking pot and drinking beer,” said Barrington Police Chief John LaCross.

Two of the boys charged are 17; one is 16, LaCross said. Both cars attempted to leave the parking lot when the patrol officer arrived.

Searches of the vehicles found the marijuana, a glass smoking bong and "four cans of beer left in a 30-pack," LaCross said.

The juveniles charged with possession were taken to the police station. They will face the charges in Family Court.

This article needs to be corrected in a few spots. If the author had read the Barrington Times, where they actually check their facts, they would know that there were only three teens in the Jeep. Additionally, the boys charged were not taken down to the station. This is why The Patch gets such a bad rep - the articles are biased and contain false information more times than not.

Uh what? This article isn't in the Times. Either way 8 or 9 idiots got busted for being stupid! They tried to leave when the police got there. Shady. Busted.
