Police Probing Pills at Middle School

Boy, 12, was carrying unauthorized pills without a note from his parents on Thursday, Dec. 15.

Barrington police are investigating the composition and source of two pills carried to Barrington Middle School by a 12-year-old boy.

The pills, believed to be prescription drugs, were discovered in a plastic bag in the boy’s pocket. He did not have a note from his parents to carry the pills, Barrington police said.

Police responded to the school at 12:45 pm on Thursday, Dec. 15.

Stolen guns reported to police

Two guns were reported missing from a Martin Avenue home to Barrington police on Wednesday morning, Dec. 14.

The owner of the guns said he last saw the 9 mm handgun and carbine rifle about 6-8 weeks ago, police said.  Some repair work was being done on his house at that time.

The guns were reported missing, but the ammunition for them was left behind, police said.

An investigation into the alleged theft is underway.

Credit card found at school

A Discover credit card found in the Barrington High School parking lot has been returned to its owner.

The credit card was turned in at the police station by the person who found it on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 14. It belonged to the son of an Adams Point Road resident, police said.

The boy’s mother said her son had reported to her that he lost the card.
