New Petition for Later School Start Time

If you missed the deadline for the We The People petition that supports a later school start time, here's another chance to sign on.

The Barrington School Committee is considering moving back the start time at the high school to no earlier than 8 am -- perhaps even 20-30 minutes later than that. A committee at the high school is looking at all the ups and downs of moving the start time.

A later start time is an issue that is gaining support nationwide because of the positive impact it has on students and their performance. Starting too early each school day undermines academic achievement and endangers health and safety, according to research on the subject.

Do you support a later start time for high school students? If you do, consider signing a new petition -- especially if you were unable to sign the We the People petition linked to from Patch a few days ago. Now you've got another chance.
