Meet Republican Candidates for Barrington Town Council
Donald Nessing, Margaret Kane and Shirley Applegate-Lockridge are running for the three seats up for grabs.
A mortgage broker, a business and estate planning attorney and the former executive director of a leading RI health organization are the Republicans vying for seats on the Barrington Town Council in this year’s general election.
None of the Republicans has held an elective office. Two of the candidates have run for office in the past. One is a newcomer to a campaign although she has been elected to the Republican Town Committee.
Barrington Patch asked mortgage broker Donald Nessing, attorney Shirley Applegate-Lockridge and former RI Lung Association executive director Margaret Kane to fill out a questionnaire that provides a brief profile of their backgrounds.
You will see that Nessing did serve on the Barrington Ad Hoc Committee on Taxation and Assessment. He lost in the race for Town Council in 2010.
You will see that Kane is the chairwoman of two Barrington boards: the Community Center Task Force and the Senior Services Advisory Board. She has lost two races for the District 66 House seat in the General Assembly.
Applegate-Lockridge’s profile shows extensive corporate, business and estate planning experience.
