Man's Mercedes Simply Leaves Road
Barrington police and rescue responded last Thursday afternoon to a car simply driving off Wampanoag Trail into some trees from 'sun glare'.
A Bristol man learned a lesson last week about keeping his eyes on the road while driving -- even if the sun interferes.
The man was heading south on the Wampanoag Trail about 3 pm on Thursday, Feb. 21, near Kyle Street, according to Barrington police. The next thing he knew, he told police, he ended up in a grove of trees off the road on the right after apparently diverting his attention from the roadway from "sun glare."
The man said he was not hurt. He refused medical treatment from Barrington EMTs.
His 2007 Mercedes was wedged up against a tree after it left the road. It was towed to a repair shop. There was no estimate of damage.
The crash appeared to happen just as the man said, according to police. There was no indication that the man was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The accident drew several Barrington patrol cars and the fire department’s Ladder truck.

Why do the cops waste town money by sending "several" cop cars and the ladder truck to an accident where there was little damage, no injuries, and no crime? I think the cops in town just need something to do. Maybe a budget cut would get their attention.
Additionally, I can't count the number of times I've seen Barrington's finest on traffic detail where they just sit around, don't bother directing traffic, and chat with other officers who just happen to stop by. Seems like a waste of time and money.
