Man, 54, Charged After Walking in Traffic

Barrington police charge an allegedly intoxicated Warren man with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct after he's found jumping in and out of traffic on County Road.

An allegedly intoxicated Warren man, 54, faces disorderly conduct and resisting arrest charges after Barrington police responded to a report of him jumping in and out of traffic on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 16.

William F. Cormier, of 25 King St., was arrested after he tried to grab a police officer’s glasses and then began fighting with him. He had to be held down, said Barrington Police Chief John LaCross.

Cormier reportedly was spotted by a caller who said a man was walking in traffic on County Road at Mathewson Road at about 2:49 pm. Two patrol officers found him allegedly impeding traffic at that location.

Cormier was taken after the tussle to the police station, where he was arraigned by a justice of the peace. He was then taken to the ACI to be held before facing the charges in District Court on Monday morning, Dec. 17.
