Man, 47, Faces Domestic Assault Charge
The alleged assault occurred during an apparent tussle over a video camera, according to Barrington police.
A Barrington man, 47, faces a domestic-violence charge after his wife called police to tell them her husband was being physical with her.
John McCarthy, of 69 Governor Bradford Drive, was charged on Saturday, Jan. 5., with domestic simple assault and battery, according to Barrington police. He allegedly slapped his wife in the face and pinched her arm during a struggle over a video camera.
McCarthy allegedly was taking a video of his wife screaming during a fight with him. A tussle over the camera ensued, according to the police report.
McCarthy claimed that his wife bit him during their altercation. He was charged as being the primary aggressor, said Barrington Police Chief John LaCross.
He was arraigned at the police station by a justice of the peace before being released on his own recognizance with a date to appear in District Court to face the charge.
Three patrol officers, Shane Allen, Marc Pimental, and Christopher Aylward, and Sgt. Kevin Igoe, responded to the couple’s home around 7 pm.
