Man, 20, Charged With Obstruction after Leaving Crash Scene
Daniel Shana of South Meadow Lane reportedly hit utility pole on County Road and then obstructed police officer filing report on it.
A Barrington man, 20, was charged by police on Tuesday, March 15, with obstructing a police officer in executing his duties and several motor vehicle violations, including leaving the scene of an accident and failing to report it.
Daniel A. Shana, of 24 South Meadow Lane, turned himself in to police at around 6:23 am on Tuesday after being involved in a single-car crash on County Road near Hidden Gardens early Thursday morning, March 10.
Shana and a female passenger were observed walking on Rumstick Road by a police officer on Thursday morning. They said their vehicle had a flat tire and they were walking home while waiting for a AAA vehicle to respond.
Further observation of the vehicle showed that it had sustained significant damage to the right passenger’s side after hitting the utility pole on County Road. The female initially said she was the driver, police said. Shana was the driver.
Attempted theft of dirt bike
Police received a report on Monday, March 14, at around 8:40 am of a possible attempted larceny of a dirt bike.
A Dana Road resident said a Kawasaki motorcycle that is normally stored in a locked garage was found outside leaning up against the wall of the house. There was no sign of forced entry and the garage was believed to have been locked.
The motorcycle was driven over the weekend, police said. But it reportedly was covered and stored in the garage after being driven.
Debit card tampering
A Church Street woman reported a suspicious condition on Monday, March 14, with a debit card she received in the mail.
The woman told police that the envelope appeared to have been opened. She cancelled the card with Citizens Bank, police said.
Email account hacked
Police received a report on Monday, March 14, at 1:15 pm of a possible computer crime.
A Grant Street resident said her email account may have been hacked because it contained a suspicious message about the family going on vacation overseas that she did not send out.
EMTs forced to break in
Barrington EMTs responded at 7:34 am on Tuesday, March 15, to a request for medical aid at a Whipple Avenue home.
Police said a man, 52, was transported to Rhode Island Hospital after calling 911. EMTs had to force open a sliding door to enter the home because the man could not answer the door. There were no details on the man’s medical condition.
Domestic assault charged
A Barrington man, 22, was charged by police with simple assault and domestic disorderly conduct late Tuesday afternoon, March 15.
Adam Olean, of 410 New Meadow Road, was involved in a fight in the home with his brother, police said. He was arraigned and released at the police station.
