Madigan's Cafe Closes, Seeks Buyer
Owner Robyn Rowles is moving to north of Atlanta with her children; she is looking for a new owner for the restaurant.
Madigan’s Café has closed and is looking for a buyer.
“We’re moving back to Georgia,” said owner Robyn Rowles of she and her children. “We’re really excited about the move.”
Rowles’ relocation is a bit bittersweet, she said. She has really enjoyed operating the eatery in the Prince’s Hill Plaza on County Road in Barrington. She opened the restaurant about a year ago. See Patch story.
Rowles, a professional photographer, also operated Artist By You on Maple Avenue before opening the café. That building is up for sale as well.
Rowles actually decided to relocate back in February, she said. But she wanted to wait until the school year ended before making the move.
She still closed the 45-seat restaurant earlier than she planned about two weeks ago, she said, when one of her children had to have emergency surgery.
“I decided to shut down now,” she said.
Rowles has no specific game plan for the rest of the summer after she moves, she said.
“I just plan to hang out and finish a couple of photo projects,” she said.
Of course, she wants to sell the business as soon as possible. She has hired Robert Flynn, a broker and the managing partner of United Brokers Group, to handle the sale.
“It has a full liquor license,” Rowles said, which would have to be approved for a new owner.
She had planned to add a bar but was persuaded to allow a new owner to make that decision.

I would hope that the patch has better things to do than cover this story of some person leaving town after driving two businesses into the ground, but whatever makes you feel good, there are probably businesses in town that woul actually benefit from a story, but that might be productive...
