The Dick’s Sporting Goods Junior Pee Wees defeated the Fall River Falcons, 14-0, Sunday, Sept. 16, at Durfee High School, to bring their Pop Warner record to 2-1.
The Eagles' offense came alive this game, with big gains on the ground for running back Zach Newberg, that put Barrington in the red zone twice. Fullback/guard Jon Adamson powered in a great touchdown run, as well as a run for an extra point with three Falcons' defenders on his back.
RB/TE Will Rywolt had a long reception from QB Nick Roach, plus a 33-yard touchdown run to extend his streak with a TD in each of the Eagles’ three games. Roach continued to run the offense masterfully, adding several clutch runs of his own for first downs.
Fullbacks Kyle Greenberg and Alexis Malnerich both had great games, punching the football up the middle for some tough first downs. Running back Seth Mitchell added some excellent runs, with a nice juke-out of a Fall River linebacker for a long gain.
Center Hunter Norris snapped very well all game, and added some solid defense. Strong blocking by Andrew Prete, Chase White, Jack Kelleher and Noah Werbel was essential for the scoring drives.
The “Monster Offense” line continued to provide an impenetrable wedge, driven by Guards Meredith Kaplan and Logan Graham, center Matt Peecher, and tight ends Robert Cahill and Marley Karnes, who also recovered a blocked punt.
The defense was again dominant, recording its second-straight shutout. Linebacker Martin Agustin was great in pass coverage and joined in for a bunch of tackles. Tackle Ben Silva and defensive end Foster Egan each had an outstanding game, with multiple solo tackles in the backfield. The Falcons big, speedy backs were stopped for losses all game by the relentless pass rush from LB Roach and tackles Adamson, Tim Hoag, Slade Crane and Sergio DaSilva.
The Eagles return home to face Portsmouth on Saturday, Sept. 22, at Victory Field.
