Highest Tide in Your Neighborhood?
Do you live along or near the water? Where was the highest tide you saw during tropical storm Sandy on Monday?
Where was the highest tide in your Barrington neighborhood?
Mathewson Road was flooded.
County Road near the White Church was under water for a while.
The final holes on the south side of Nayatt Road at Rhode Island Country Club were taking water quickly as high tide and the storm surge moved in Monday night.
Barrington Beach was under water and pounded by the surf.

Barrington Beach came through a lot better than during Irene last year - there was no "pounding surf" as the wind was blowing towards the south/southwest, so away from the beach. It could have been a lot worse, if the wind was blowing in the right/wrong direction. Depending on the part of the parking lot you were in, the line of seaweed left by the tide was half-way or just across the parking lot. I think other parts of town fared much worse.

100 Acre Cove at the far end had a measurement of 30" above a typical moon tide making it a high tide of around 7.5 ft. There was calm water in the cove at the highest tide around 8 last night making a measurement easy to take.
But 100 Acre Cove is a huge tidal plain protected by the two bridges which limits the incoming surge. So it might be higher in the river and in the harbor.
