Girls X-C Team 3rd in Qualifier

A trip to the national championships this weekend for the Barrington High School squad will require getting an 'at large' bid.

The Barrington High School girls cross-country team finished third on Saturday, Nov. 24, at the Nike Cross Country Northeast qualifying race in Wappingers Falls, NY, according to stories in the Barrington Times and Providence Journal.

An automatic bid to the national competition in Oregon on Saturday, Dec. 1, eluded the team with the finish. But the squad could get an at-large bid.

Leading the way for the RI state-champion squad was state champion Emma McMillan, who place third in the New England meet a week ago. She finished seventh overall in Saturday's qualifier with a time of 18:43.6.

Also contributing to Barrington's team score of 151 were Abigail Livingston (25th in 19:30.6), Fiona Paine (29th in 19:42.7), Julianna Portelli (49th in 20:03.6) and Marykate Coogan (79th in 20:28.9), according to the story in the Journal.
