Sophomore point guard Sarah Middleton scored almost half of her Barrington High basketball team’s points Tuesday night in the girls’ Division I semifinal victory over Exeter/West Greenwich.
The score was 42-41. Middletown had 20 points. The playoff win avenged one of the Eagles’ two losses in a 20-2 regular season.
The Eagles now will nowon to the title game Sunday at 4 pm in the Ryan Center at the University of Rhode Island. They will play La Salle Academy, which beat Westerly, 47-37, in the second game of a semifinal doubleheader Tuesday night at Rhode Island College.
Barrington survived a second-half comeback by E/WG to pull out the win, according to the Providence Journal. E/WG trailed 34-17 at the break but clawed back into the game by holding Barrington to 8 second-half points.
E/WG had beaten Barrington handily the first time they played this year by a 68-50 score.
Barrington beat La Salle by 10 points in their regular-season game.
