Tonight's the night you can help to provide some relief to Hurricane Sandy victims at a Staten Island high school.

Barrington High School teaching assistant Mai Donohue is cooking a complete Vietnamese dinner as a “Sandy Relief” fundraiser. It runs from 6 to 8 pm at the high school.

Specifically, the fundraiser will benefit students at New Dorp High School on State Island, which was devastated by Hurricane Sandy. Donohue is doing all the cooking and is donating two weeks of her pay to buy the food.

The Chain Reaction Club at the high school will be right there with Donohue. It has been collecting donations for the raffle and silent auction and selling tickets for the dinner, said Michelle Pouliot, a junior at the high school.

It is definitely not too late to buy tickets or drop off donations in the BHS main office on 220 Lincoln Avenue.

Pouliot said a letter from the principal of New Dorp High School better describes the physical, financial, and mental hardships of three individuals as well as the overall wreckage of the town.
