Do Veterans Get Enough Recognition?
Today, Nov. 11, is Veterans Day -- do America's veterans receive enough recognition for their service?
Today is Veterans Day, although it is being officially recognized on Monday, Nov. 12, by the federal government.
Whichever day you prefer, it is a day for honoring veterans of America's armed forces.
But for millions of Americans, it's treated as just another holiday on the calendar – a day off from school, a day out of work, a three-day weekend.
In towns and cities across America, grizzled veterans, Boy Scouts, politicians and a handful of others will attend small, quiet services.
Is that enough? Do we as Americans do enough to recognize the nation's service men and women and the sacrifices they made and the responsibilities they took on to go to war or serve for us?
