Democrats to Go to Primary Polls
Barrington Democrats will help elect a District 1 Congressional candidate to run against Republican Brendan Doherty; polls are open Tuesday from 7 am to 8 pm.
Barrington Democrats will go to the polls on Tuesday, Sept. 11.
They will vote in a primary election for a candidate to run against Republican Brendan Doherty for Rhode Island’s District 1 seat in Congress.
The candidates are the incumbent, Rep. David Cicilline, and two challengers Anthony Gemma and Christopher Young. The race is expected to be close between Cicilline and Gemma, according to the most recent polls.
You may have a new voting district. They were changed by redistricting in Rhode Island this year.
You may also have a new polling place. The polls were reduced from 8 to 5.
Primrose Hill School, the Barrington Senior Center and St. John’s Episcopal Church are no longer being used as polls.
The five Barrington polling places:
- District 66-1, Barrington High School
- District 66-2, Middle School
- District 66-3, Nayatt School
- District 67-4, Hampden Meadows School
- District 67-5, Sowams School
A green card sent to you by the Board of Canvassers tells you your voting district. You will always vote at the polling place listed on the card.
You can also find your voting district at the RI Secretary of State's website.
Polls will be open from 7 am to 8 pm – they close an hour earlier than in the past.
