Volunteer for Housing, Recreation, Zoning Boards
The deadline to apply to serve on three Barrington boards is Friday, Sept. 21.
Three Barrington boards and commissions have vacancies. The Town Council wants you to consider volunteering to serve on one of them.
If you are interested, you need to submit a résumé to the Town Clerk’s Office by Friday, Sept. 21.
Here are the boards with vacancies:
The Housing Board of Trustees has four vacancies, including three members who are possible reappointments. The board deals with all possible affordable housing projects in Barrington and reviews awards from the Spencer Trust.
The Parks and Recreation Commission has one vacancy for a three-year term. It deals with all issues that involve Barrington's parks, the beach, and playgrounds, including scheduling of playing fields for youth sports leagues. The commission works closely with the town recreation director.
The Zoning Board of Review has one vacancy, which is a possible reappointment. It deals with requests for relief from dimensional requirements relating to lot area; frontage, building coverage, setback and building height, including nonconforming structures; pplications for special use permits and relief from the merger requirements for substandard lots of record.
Résumé forms can be obtained through the Barrington website, at the Town Clerk's Office in Town Hall, or at the library.
