Councilors to Sit as 'Spencer Trustees'
The Town Council holds a meeting tonight as the trustees of the Spencer Trust Fund, set up to help 'the poor and unfortunate' in Barrington.
The Barrington Town Council holds a special meeting tonight in its capacity as trustees of the Amey Tucker Spencer Trust Fund. It starts at 6 pm in the Council Chamber in Town Hall.
The multi-million dollar Spencer Trust was set up by Wilton H. Spencer in 1936 for town officials to help "the poor and unfortunate people" of Barrington. The town began using the money about eight years ago after a lawsuit with the Spencer's heirs was settled.
