A copper and tool thief appears to have hit a house under construction in Barrington. It was one of several larcenies reported to police last week.

Barrington police reported that some copper piping, an Ingersoll compressor on wheels with a trailer hitch, and a jackhammer were swiped from a home on Stone Tower Lane.

The contractor reported to police that he left the copper and construction equipment in the driveway of the home overnight. It was gone the next morning.

Police are investigating the reported theft. A black pick-up truck was observed in the area within 24 hours of the larceny, according to the police. The theft was reported at 8:15 am last Wednesday, Nov. 28.

A theft of a different type was reported to police last Friday morning, Nov. 30.

Carmine Borrelli, owner of Borrelli’s Bakery on Washington Road, said less than $500 in cash in a box and a cash register were stolen from the store sometime overnight.

Police said there did not appear to be a forced entry to the store. The theft was discovered around 6:20 am when Borrelli delivered bread and other baked goods to the store. An investigation continues.

A theft of firewood was reported to police on Sunday morning, Dec. 2.

A Lamson Road homeowner said firewood continues to disappear from a wood pile behind his house. He told police that he suspects someone from the neighborhood is taking the wood for a fire pit.

The man, 61, did not ask for a police investigation; he told police he will move the wood pile to make it more difficult to walk away with the logs.
