Construction Equipment Reported Stolen

More than $2,000 worth of gear was reported stolen to Barrington police early Monday morning.

More than $2,000 worth of construction equipment was reported missing to Barrington police on Monday morning, Jan. 21, from a house under repair on County Road.

A Bristol contractor told police that a dirt compactor with a value of $2,000 and two wheelbarrows with values of about $100 each were stolen from the bed of a pickup truck parked in the side yard of a house at 632 County Road. The equipment was left for the weekend late Friday afternoon, Jan. 18.

The dashboard of a separate unlocked dump truck parked at the home also was damaged when the thief attempted to steal the radio, said Barrington Police Chief John LaCross. The extent of the damage was not known.

The dirt compactor is a Danapac model, LaCross said. The wheelbarrows are described only as blue.

The larceny was reported at 9:04 am yesterday.
