'Coach Carl' Blood Drive Coming Up

The Greater Providence Youth Hockey Association is sponsoring a blood drive in honor of the late Carl Andreozzi of Barrington on Saturday, Aug. 25, at Brown University.

A blood drive in memory of Carl Andreozzi of Barrington will be held Saturday morning at Brown University.

"Coach Carl, as he was known, was a resident of Barrington up until his death two years ago, and his mother, wife and children still reside in town," said Kate Garabedian of Prince's Hill Avenue.

"He was a hockey coach and on the board of directors at the Greater Providence Youth Hockey Association, and we are hosting a blood drive in his honor at Meehan Auditorium from 8 am to 1 pm," she said.

"There are many residents from Barrington that skate at Meehan Auditorium," she said. "Several local businesses, including Barrington Radio and Electric, are advertising this event for us."

"Coach Carl was not only a loving husband and father, but someone who worked tirelessly for the love of hockey to make our league a better place for all -- players, coaches and parents," Garabedian said. "He is missed by all who knew him.  Please honor his memory and his family by donating on Saturday, Aug. 25."

You can visit the Rhode Island Blood Center website or call (401) 453-8385 to make an appointment.  Use sponsor code 2946.
