Four young women from Girl Scout Troop 426 in Barrington were given 2012 Silver Awards last month at Barrington Congregational Church. The Silver Award, the highest award that a Cadette Girl Scout can earn, requires a minimum of 50 hours of leadership-oriented community service. It recognizes efforts to promote leadership and the benefits of being involved in the community. The honorees included Casie Castello, Leah Sirmalis, Amy Harff and Emily Deslauriers. Rep. Joy Hearn of Barrington presented the award on behalf of the State of Rhode Island.
