Burglary in Broad Daylight Reported
A home on Lantern Lane in Barrington was entered last Thursday afternoon and two laptops and assorted jewelry were reported stolen.
The footprints in the snow leading to a wood line behind the house were the tipoff.
A Lantern Lane woman, 54, reported to Barrington police last Thursday afternoon, Jan. 24, that someone had entered her house in broad daylight and walked out with two laptop computers and assorted jewelry, including a wedding ring.
The report of the burglary came in at around 2 pm. There was no sign of forced entry, according to the police report.
The back door was “probably unlocked,” said Barrington Police Chief John LaCross.
There was no value given by the woman for the missing items, but the theft is believed to be worth more than $1,000, said LaCross.
Four officers canvassed the area for about an hour after the report was called in. An investigation continues.
