The Booster Club solicited nominees for the Hall of Fame last summer and fall, said Elizabeth Palko, Booster Club president and chairperons of the BHS Athletic Hall of Fame.

Final selections were made by the Hall of Fame committee in November, she said.

“Their athletic accomplishments, achievements, and contributions established the rich tradition of athletic excellence at Barrington High School and set a standard for high school athletes around the state to follow,” Palko said in her invitation to the event.

“I’m grateful for the chance to get to know these talented athletes, past and present,” she said.

The Booster Club also awards jackets to student-athletes who are members in good standing of a varsity team that wins an interscholastic championship, Palko said.

“Student-athletes may only receive one Jacket Award in their BHS career,” she said, “but are encouraged to add their future championship-award embroidery to this same jacket and wear it proudly.”

For instance, in February, she said, the Booster Club presented jackets to the Barrington girls’ cross-country team for their 2010 Class B Championship. At the January Booster Club meeting, the boys’ soccer team received jackets for their 2010 state championship.
