An author and illustrator described as a "rock star" in the children’s book world is coming to Barrington to launch her latest book, which is illustrated by a local illustrator.
Rosemary Wells has been writing and illustrating children’s books for more than 30 years. The launch of her latest book, Following Grandfather, will take place on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 23, at Barrington Books along with Barrington illustrator Christopher Denise.
Both Wells and Denise will sign and talk about their book from 1 to 3:30 pm.
Here is a description of Following Grandfather:
In a parallel world – often invisible to the human eye lives a family of mice who experience very human like emotions. Following Grandfather is a tender story that explores the deep and treasured bond between a grandfather and his granddaughter.
Young Jenny learned from her grandfather how to button her buttons, write her name and create the most delicious lasagna in all of Boston. When he is suddenly gone from her life, she reflects on their relationship and seems to see him every time she turns the corner
Wells is best known, perhaps, for bringing beloved characters to life -- Here Comes Mother Goose, My Shining Star and, of course, the series of Max and Ruby books, two sibling bunnies, who have become stars of a television show on Nick, Jr.
Denise has illustrated many books, including Oliver Finds His Way by Phyllis Root, Knitty Kitty by David Elliot and several of the Redwall books by Brian Jacques. He speaks often in schools across the state about writing and illustrating books with his wife, children's author Anika Denise.
