Body of Local Man Pulled From Water
Portsmouth police report that the body of a Barrington man, 59, was pulled from the water under the Mount Hope Bridge early Monday morning.

Portsmouth police said that at approximately 7 am, an off-duty police officer spotted “an unoccupied vehicle stopped in the southbound lane of the Mount Hope Bridge.”
“Upon investigation, the officer observed what appeared to be a body floating in the water beneath the bridge,” Portsmouth police said.
Rescue crews from Portsmouth and Bristol were notified. The body was pulled from the water by the Bristol harbormaster.
The body was turned over to the State Medical Examiner’s Office. The matter remains under investigation by Portsmouth Police and the Medical Examiner.
The identify of the man was being withheld until the family can be notified, police said.
