Barrington to Recognize Volunteers
The Barrington Town Council approves a second annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner for the men and women who serve on all the boards and commissions.
The 125 or so men and woman who make up Barrington’s boards and commissions will be recognized again in April.
The Town Council approved last week a proposal by Town Councilor Cynthia Coyne to hold a second annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner at Barrington High School.
The event will be held on Thursday, April 25, at 5:30 pm.
The Town Council approved spending $1,500 for a barbecue to recognize the volunteers. Last year's dinner drew about 100 people to the high school cafeteria.
“Do you know how much time and energy and effort is given by them?” Coyne said. “We couldn’t run local government without all the dedicated volunteers.”
The April event, said Coyne, will give back just a little bit to the people who give so much to Barrington during National Volunteer Month.
