Barrington Man Almost Clobbers Police Station

Matthew A. Migliore reportedly almost drove his vehicle into the Tiverton police headquarters.

A Barrington man was arrested by Tiverton police on drunk driving charges early Sunday, Dec. 18, after he reportedly almost drove into the police station at 20 Industrial Way.

Matthew A. Migliore, 26, of 51 Chachapacassett Road, was arrested at 6:05 am. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and refusing to submit a chemical test.

At around 5:49 am, officers say they saw a gray Toyota 4-Runner completely mount the front curb of the police department parking lot, with the front bumper resting against the guy-wires, according to Lt. Patrick Jones.

Police made contact with the driver, later identified as Migliore, who said he "made a mistake" and "wanted to go home."

Jones said police noted that Migliore had been drinking and could detect an odor of alcohol coming from his breath. He failed a field sobriety test. Migiore later refused to submit to a chemical test, Jones said.
