Barrington Detectives Investigating Burglary
A Rosedale Avenue homeowner reported the B&E to police last Wednesday evening, Oct. 10.
Barrington detectives are investigating a break-in to a home in the Sherwood Park neighborhood last Wednesday evening, Oct. 10.
A Dell laptop, assorted jewelry and $300 in cash were reported stolen from the Rosedale Avenue home, said Barrington Police Chief John LaCross. Entry to the home apparently came through a bathroom window.
The burglary appears to have occurred sometime between 6:30 pm and 9:30 pm. The homeowner said her son had been in and out of the house a couple of times during the late afternoon and early evening and did not notice anything amiss.
The woman noticed a dresser drawer open and jewelry boxes tampered with around 10 pm, LaCross said. That’s when she returned home after leaving for work around 8:30 am.
The woman reported the breaking and entering to police around 10:27 pm, according to LaCross. The burglar apparently used a piece of lawn furniture to reach the bathroom window.
Barrington police also received a report on Sunday, Oct. 14, of possible credit card fraud from a Northwest Passage homeowner.
The man told police that his card was used to try to make $185 in purchases from an online company on Oct. 5. The merchandise was not shipped and the man was not charged, police said.
