Annual Festival of Lights on Dec. 1
Barrington's merchants and the leisure services department collaborating again on the annual tree-lighting festival in front of Town Hall.
Look for Santa Claus and a couple of his elves at the annual Festival of Lights in Barrington on Saturday, Dec. 1.
Santa, of course, will visit the tree-lighting ceremony put together in front of Town Hall by the leisure services department. The tree will be lighted at 5 pm.
The elves will ride on a trolley and point out some of the activities going on at local businesses, said Holly Smith, owner of Hollies on the Avenue and co-director of the Barrington Business Association.
“The trolley will run from 1 to 5 pm,” said Smith at Tuesday night’s meeting of the business association at the Barrington Pilates studio on Maple Avenue. “There will be designated stops around town for people to get on and off.”
Other activities for the holiday festival will be a train ride circling Town Hall, performances by Prestige Ballet and Arts Alive! of Barrington, and food trucks and a cookie table.
Friends of the Bay Spring Community Center will staff a table to sell luminary kits to raise funds for the continued improvement of the facility in West Barrington.
“We want to make things as fun as we can,” said Lois Coppolino, owner of Daisy Dig’ins and the other co-director of the business group.
The second annual Passport to Savings coupon booklet was distributed to participating merchants Tuesday night as well.
Shoppers who use the booklet can tear out coupons from local merchants that will be entered in a drawing for a $1,000 shopping spree.
