'Amazing Night'; Rock 'N Roll Movie

Barrington Middle School hosts an open house for next year's sixth-graders; public library continues rock 'n roll film series with Motown classic.

 

“One Amazing Night” at Barrington Middle School will introduce next year’s sixth-graders to school programs and activities; it runs from 4:30 to 7:30 pm.

A rock ‘n roll film series continues at the Barrington Public Library at 7 pm with Standing in the Shadows of Motown (2002), a film based on a award-winning book of the same name. It’s a Funk Brothers' saga filled with archival footage, photos, narration, interviews, re-creation scenes, 20 Motown master tracks, and 12 live performances including Chaka Khan, Ben Harper, Bootsy Collins, Montell Jordan, Meshell Ndegeocello, Joan Osborne, and Gerald Levert.

A community tennis program that runs every Thursday evening in May continues at 6 pm at the courts at Barrington High School. Tony Cunha, a local tennis professional, is teaching the course. You can still register through the Barrington Recreation Department at 247-1925. Cost is $50.

Get a blood pressure check at 10:30 am or play Bingo at 1 pm at the Barrington Senior Center.

Barrington Books hosts a children's story hour each Thursday at 10:30 am for kids ages 2-5. Barrington children's book author Anika Denise leads the story hour in the Barrington Shopping Plaza store.
