5 Things to Know About Today

Here are five things you should know about today in Barrington:
- Today will be windy with rain or snow showers dumping precipitation on us later this afternoon and temperatures edging up into the low 40s.
- A matinee movie and lecture series, "Fond of Fonda: Saluting Henry Fonda," starts at 2 pm in the Barrington library auditorium with "The Grapes of Wrath," a 1940s classic; movie-enthusiast Doug Swiszcz provides commentary before the film.
- RIPTA holds a public hearing from 6 to 8 pm in the Barrington library auditorium on its proposal to cut or change bus routes statewide as spelled out in a Comprehensive Operational Analysis (COA). The COA will cut some routes to overcome a multimillion-dollar deficit.
- Girls on the Run Rhode Island is an after-school program for girls in grades 3-5. The 10-week program meets at Studio 47 at Barrington Pilates. For more information and to register all this week, visit the website.
- St. James Lutheran Church hosts each Wednesday during Lent from 6:30 to 8 pm a meal of soup, bread and salad in the Community room, followed by a service of prayer in the Sanctuary.
