5 Things to Know About Today

Enjoy first day of spring; see Fonda in 'My Darling Clementine'; get a tennis workout; Housing trustees meet; Lenten supper and service.

Here are five things you should know about today in Barrington:

  1. Today is the first day of spring and the weather should be way more spring-like than yesterday with intervals of clouds and sun and temperatures approaching 40 degrees.
  2. A matinee movie and lecture series, "Fond of Fonda: Saluting Henry Fonda," continues today at 2 pm in the Barrington library auditorium with 'My Darling Clementine," a John Ford-directed western with Fonda playing Wyatt Earp and the famous shoot-out at the OK corral against the Clanton gang; librarian and film-buff Doug Swiszcz hosts the series and provides commentary before the showing.
  3. Barrington Neighbors and Newcomers hosts tennis drills and a workout at Centre Court Tennis, 55 Hospital Road, Riverside, at 9 am.
  4. The Barrington Housing Board of Trustees meets at 7 pm in the library for its March meeting.
  5. St. James Lutheran Church hosts each Wednesday during Lent from 6:30 to 8 pm a meal of soup, bread and salad in the Community room, followed by a service of prayer in the Sanctuary.
