Navigant Credit Union Announces Scholarship Program
Navigant Credit Union has announced its scholarship program for the 2012-2013 academic year. The credit union is offering $10,000 in scholarships to recognize high school seniors from its membership community for their academic, extracurricular, and community achievements.
The deadline to apply to the scholarship program is May 1, 2012. Any graduating high school senior entering an accredited junior college, college, university or technical school can apply. Applicants must be a member or the immediate family member of someone who has an active Navigant Credit Union account. Scholarship applicants will be reviewed and rated on the basis of financial need, past academic performance in high school, standardized test scores, extracurricular activities, and personal interview, if so desired by the selection committee.
Applications and other applicable forms are available at www.navigantcu.org, at all Navigant Credit Union branches, and at high school guidance offices.
Scholarship winners will be selected in early June and will be presented their award check at a luncheon at Navigant Credit Union’s Corporate Center in Smithfield.

My feeling is that if Credit Unions get forced in to the same position as the former Mutual Building Societies then some stubborn nitwit would start the process again and call it a 'Penny Bank' or something similair. A level playing field won't be given to anybody. Our member/owners have to understand just how precious their 'own bank' is and be educated to look after it. The bonuses given to members of building societies when privatised was the sum of all the hard work that went in to setting them up.
